It is that time of the year when the mercury rises to the top not just around Delhi but everywhere else in India, and everyone is looking for a gap to break free from the daily city cycles. The advantage for the people residing in Delhi is the fact that the capital city is situated at a center point which is midway of the mighty Himalayas in the North and beautiful cities of Rajasthan in the west. So it is very much feasible to make a short weekend plan to any kind of preferred location which is not more than six to eight hours of the ride. So in the report below we shortlist a number of weekend getaways for the Delhi NCR people who wouldn’t mind riding their motorcycles for a short two-three days trip.
Jaipur (250 Kms – 4.5 hours ride):
Often referred to as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is located almost at a distance close to 250 km from Delhi. Jaipur comprises of numerous ancient forts of the Rajput rulers and is the second most preferred location for the foreign tourists after Taj Mahal (Agra). The National Highway 8 which leads to the Pink City is usually under repairs and construction, so make sure you plan your trip accordingly as the ride time might stretch or reduce, depending on the state of the highway.

Kasauli (305 Kms – 6 hours ride):
Kasauli is a small hill station at a distance of just 50-60kms away from Chandigarh. It is right before Solan on the way to Shimla, but since it is in the foothills, it is very widely popular among the tourists visiting from over longer distances. It is not as crowded as other mainstream hill stations, and hence retains its natural appeal which travelers long for.
Tip: Foothill roads after Kalka are full of potholes and cracks, and may be highly demanding to ride on due to changing altitude, dust from construction, and hillside traffic. So always prepare for the trip accordingly.

Agra (245 Kms – 4 hours ride)
It is not hard to guess why Agra is the topmost preferred tourist spot in India. The home of one of the seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal. Agra is located at a distance of not more than 235kms away from the Capital city and thanks to the Yamuna Expressway, the distance can usually be covered in not more than 4 hours of the ride.
Tip: Be cautionary on the highway since it is not as widely populated as other highways in North India. Best way to travel is with a few more friends. Also, it can get intensely hot during summers and since the expressway cuts across the wide-open fields, hot summer dry winds blowing at high speeds may make the journey harder.
Mussoorie (290 Kms – 7 hours ride)
Mussoorie, one of the most widely famous mainstream hill stations in the North is just an hour away from Dehradun and is located at an elevation of 2,006 meters from the sea level. The serpentine route which starts from Dehradun is best enjoyed on motorcycles and serves some of the most majestic views you can expect on your short weekend getaway trip from Delhi. With average temperatures ranging from 15-23 degrees in summers, Mussoorie tops the list of weekend destinations for people in Delhi.
Alwar (185 Kms – 3.5 hours of ride)
Another city of Rajasthan in the list is Alwar, which has a huge historical significance and is as famous for its sweets, and Kachoris, as it is for its ancient forts. Located at a distance of not more than 185kms from Delhi, Alwar is also the house of India’s top haunted placed – the Bhangarh Palace.
